TENERIFE EAST – MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES

PLAYA DE LAS TERESITAS

San Andrés

Tenerife East – Most Beautiful Beaches

Playa de las Teresitas is undoubtedly the most iconic beach in Tenerife. This beach is located just 7 kilometers north of the capital Santa Cruz, in the picturesque fishing village of San Andrés, and attracts both locals and tourists. What makes Playa de las Teresitas special is the fine, golden sand that was imported from the Sahara in the 1970s. A staggering 270,000 tons of sand were needed to transform this originally volcanic beach into an exotic bay. Initially, the locals were somewhat reluctant due to the 'urban legend' that the North African sand might contain scorpions.

The beach is known for its calm, crystal-clear water, protected by a long breakwater, making it ideal for a relaxing day by the sea. With a length of 1.5 kilometers, Playa de las Teresitas offers plenty of space for a delightful beach walk along the shore.

The beach is well-equipped with public toilets, lifeguards, cozy restaurants, sunbeds, and shady spots under the swaying palm trees.

Insider tip: On weekends, it can get quite busy and parking spaces fill up quickly. An excellent alternative is to take the bus. Bus line 910 runs regularly from the Intercambiador in Santa Cruz and will get you to the beach in about 20 minutes.Webcam Tenerife Stranden

Caleta de la Tejita

Playa de la Tejita is one of the largest and most beautiful natural beaches in Tenerife. Located in a protected nature reserve, the vast beach with its fine, dark sand offers plenty of space for peace seekers and nature lovers. The impressive silhouette of Montaña Roja dominates the view – a landmark you have probably already noticed while landing or taking off at Tenerife South.

This 1-kilometer-long beach offers plenty of space to enjoy the peace without ever getting too crowded. However, thanks to the constant sea breeze, it is also a popular spot for wind and kitesurfers, so there is always something to see. Webcam Tenerife Beaches

For those who prefer a sheltered spot, to the left of the beach lies a hidden gem: the bay of Caleta de la Tejita. This quiet cove, surrounded by rocks at the foot of Montaña Roja, is perfect for snorkeling and offers plenty of shelter from the wind. The name "hidden" says it all – only after a short climb over the rocks does the beach become visible, and you can easily descend via a staircase. Due to its secluded location, this bay is also popular among nudists.
