The Blue Flag is waving again!

Tenerife offers a wide range of landscapes, from impressive volcanoes to lush forests and breathtaking beaches.

Whether it's natural beaches with black lava sand or constructed beaches with fine white Sahara sand, a day at the sea is always good for body and mind. Thanks to the stable climate on the island, it's pleasant to spend time at the coast all year round.

Every year, the beaches and marinas of the island compete for the coveted Blue Flag, an award indicating that strict quality criteria are met. The winning beaches are allowed to proudly fly the Blue Flag for a year.

Criteria for a Blue Flag:

  • Panels with information about the beach and educational activities
  • Excellent water quality
  • Beaches must comply with environmental legislation and have adequate waste management
  • Accessibility, including for people with disabilities, and the presence of a first aid team are required

This year, a total of 60 Blue Flags were awarded in the Canary Islands. Of these, 16 went to Tenerife.
